Chrome-free leather comes from farms in southern Brazil and undergoes a tanning process in which no chrome, heavy metals or dangerous acids are used.
Simplifying the tanning steps allows to limit the use of chemicals, energy, as well as to reduce the use of water by about 40% and that of salt by 80%. After tanning, the water is recyclable.
